Hotmail changed public perception about e-mail - it was no longer necessary to pay internet service providers for an e-mail address. Then Skype changed the voice over IP landscape. Dimdim is an attempt at filling a similar gap in the web conferencing world. Prakash Khot and DD Ganguly, CTO and CEO at Dimdim Inc. believe Dimdim's goals and open architecture will allow it to capture the web conferencing market.

These goals, mainly focussed on driving adoption of the product, aim to make web conferencing easier than it has ever been. The process from registration to actually sharing a desktop should take no more than five clicks and sixty seconds. It should also be secure, reliable and be working out of the box. Because of their world wide market, Dimdim is fully compatible with multiple languages.

After a short introduction, Khot and Ganguly demo the Dimdim product and its features. They are quick to point out that a strong community has immensely helped Dimdim's development. Because of the open nature of Dimdim, keeping the product standards compliant and portable was a priority. Extensive use of open source technologies, and a feature-complete free version of the product sets Dimdim above the rest in the online conferencing world.
