Web 2.0 Panel
75 minutes, 34.5mb, recorded 2006-09-15
Robert Rebholz, Paul Calento, Bryan Quinn, Bill Johnston
For people trying to better understand Web 2.0, the problem is that it is not just about vocabulary. It boils down to systems that treat the consumer as their personal property vs. business systems that put consumers in the drivers seat.Like the invention of the printing press which made printed information available to the common man, it is a revolution in systems of distribution and content creation. It is also a revolution that encourages the consumer to create his own product. Firms that currently control distribution and are used to making top down decisions about what is the "right" product are faced with the fact that for better or for worse, they are losing control of distribution. Their customers, their former property, are being emancipated.
