Dr. Joel Selanikio is the co-founder of DataDyne, a non-profit consultancy dedicated to improving the quantity and quality of public health data. He works mainly in developing countries where the dominant computer is the cellphone, and the dominant network protocol is SMS, a phenomenon that he calls "the invisible computer revolution."

Dr. Joel Selanikio is the co-founder of the DataDyne Group, and the Director of the open-source EpiSurveyor project. A pediatrician, former Wall Street computer consultant, and former CDC epidemiologist, he has a passion for combining computer science and public health to address health inequities in developing countries, and is a pioneer in the promotion of open-source development for public health.
