In his book, The Big Switch, Nicholas Carr talks about the problems enterprise IT organizations are facing with the current network infrastructure.  Greg Ness joins Phil and Scott to discuss how serious issues likely exist in supporting the new services and products now being offered to users.

He talks about how the current system is handling the load and gives examples of some of the problems that illustrate why upgrades and changes are needed.  He also looks forward on how to begin to make the necessary changes for the future.

Greg Ness was previously a marketing executive at Blue Lane Technologies, Juniper Networks, Redline Networks, IntruVert Networks, ShoreTel, Visa International and Verizon. At Blue Lane he was a thought leader in virtualization security.  Blue Lane was recently acquired by VMware.  At Redline he helped to establish the company as a leader in Web application delivery until acquisition in May 2005 by Juniper Networks. At IntruVert he helped the company establish and lead the IDPS category, resulting in its acquisition by McAfee. At ShoreTel he helped the company establish itself in the emerging enterprise VoIP space. He has been a blogger at Always On since the Spring of 2004 and his columns appear regularly in Seeking Alpha.  Greg earned a Master's Degree from The University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor's Degree from Reed College.
