Companies are working to develop apps software that take advantage of the growing number of hardware platforms. In addition to smartphones, browser developers are using the cloud to distribute programs. The group discusses these projects, as well as how new versions of browsers are coming that will be of even greater use with applications. They review how cross platform development is an important part of new software as well as Web 2.0 capabilities must also be included.


Scott C. Lemon is founder and CTO of Scintilla Communications, Inc. - a SMS/Text Messaging solutions start-up - and founder of HumanXtensions L.L.C. - an Internet R&D company. Scott's recent history in the computer industryinclude being CTO at MediaForge - a next generation viral marketing and web enhancement company, consulting to numerous Utah start-ups, along with beingChief Technologist at SCO, Chief Strategist at Vultus, and holding numerous positions during his four tours of duty at Novell. Scott's expertise rangesfrom computer and wireless hardware technologies, to networking and distributed software applications. As a futurist studying the patterns ofevolution, his past experiences in operating systems - CP/M, DOS, Windows, OS/2, NetWare, UNIX, Linux and others - is allowing him to explore the newlevels of abstractions provided by the Internet.

Ben Galbraith is the director of developer relations at Palm and the co-founder of Ajaxian.com. Ben has long juggled interests in both business and tech, having written his first computer program at six years old, started his first business at ten, and entered the IT workforce at twelve. He has delivered hundreds of technical presentations world-wide, produced several technical conferences, and co-authored over a half-dozen books. He has enjoyed a variety of business and technical roles throughout his career, including CEO, CIO, CTO, and Chief Software Architect roles in medical, publishing, media, manufacturing, advertising, software and internet industries. He lives in Palo Alto with his wife and five children.

Dion Almaer is the director of Developer Relations at Palm where he has the pleasure of working with Ben Galbraith. The pair co-founded Ajaxian.com together and the are now focused on delivering a fantastic developer experience on the mobile Web. Dion has been a technologist and a developer writing Web applications since it took over from Gopher. He has been fortunate enough to speak around the world, has published many articles, a book, and of course covers life the universe and everything on his blog.
