Testing and Monitoring Mobile Apps
19 minutes, 8.9mb, recorded 2011-06-15
Vik Chaudhary

Chaudhary stresses three particular reasons for testing and monitoring mobile apps: to test global connections and control of smartphones, to create optimal scripts for smartphone interfacing, and to gather data for future troubleshooting of apps. With the millions of apps downloaded and the increasing popularity of smartphones, the need for precise smartphone testing is clear.

Using his time to present a remote connection to an iPhone in San Francisco, Vik Chaudhary displays remote interactive testing, scripting and replay, and automated monitoring. Current programs allow users to manipulate geographically-scattered mobile devices online by displaying their locations, recreating the device's touch interface, and interacting with far-off devices directly and immediately. He also touches on how to monitor the time different apps take to function, and how to reduce that downtime.

Vik Chaudhary not only explains central ideas and goals for testing smartphones and apps, but uses his testing programs on stage to demonstrate the maneuverability of programs, how efficient apps are, and how to test smartphones for future troubleshooting.
