In the green pastures of technology trends, Damian Conway leaves no sacred cow un-tipped. This entertaining keynote address, from the 2005 O'Reilly European Open Source Convention, pokes fun at many hot topics for software developers including: software patents, open source, mash ups, online communities, rapid application development, operating system zealotry, and even Joss Whedon's movies and TV shows.
Damian Conway holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and is an associate professor at Monash University, Australia. A popular speaker and trainer, he is also the author of the books Object Oriented Perl and Perl Best Practices, as well as many well-known CPAN modules. He runs an international IT training company, Thoughtstream, that provides programmer education from beginner to masterclass level throughout Europe, North America, and Australasia. Most of his spare time is spent working with Larry Wall on the design, prototyping, and explanation of Perl 6.
