The Idea Village, a nonprofit formalized in 2002, has become the primary driver for business innovation in New Orleans by developing strategic initiatives to support the growth of more than 210 local entrepreneurial ventures. When Katrina hit in 2005, the nonprofit went into high gear to help rebuild the city.

In this audo lecture, sponsored by the Stanford Center for Social Innovation, Tim Williamson, The Idea Village president and cofounder, offers highlights about his organization's genesis and mission, as well as anecdotes about the enterprise's efforts to work with citizens, businesses, and political leaders to spur economic change and growth in New Orleans.

Tim Williamson is president of The Idea Village, Inc., an economic development program that helps accelerate the early development of technology companies in the greater New Orleans region. Prior to running The Idea Village, Williamson was the general manager of the New Orleans Internet Studio for Cox Interactive Media, the leading network of local internet city-sites. He oversaw the initial launch of Insideneworleans.com, executed a national internet strategy in New Orleans, and was promoted to the position of regional general manager of Cox Interactive Media.
